Tula Retreat
Your adventure begins when you’re ferried across the Calitzdorp Dam to your own private encampment on the water’s edge – it’s the only way to access this retreat, which has nothing but rolling hills behind it and promises utter privacy.
The glamping set-up (and this truly is “glamorous camping”) consists of the two-sleeper Jala Luxury Tent (with an open-plan sleeping and living area) and the refurbished two-sleeper Vayu Vintage Caravan for two additional people. The caravan is situated about 100m from the tent, at the fully equipped outdoor kitchen – and everything is drenched in views.
The setup is 100% off-grid, with LED and lantern lighting, solar power and “fire” power – think braais, cosy fireplaces (indoors and out) and plenty of lounging in the hot tub (just down the hill from your tented cabin). You’ll have everything you need, from quality bed linen, towels and bathroom amenities to books, board games and yoga mats; all you have to do is bring your food and drinks… and, of course, your favourite companions.
Good to know
This is more of a grown-up getaway, but teenagers are permitted. You can bring your own jetski or motorboat for waterskiing on the dam, and staff are on call from 8am to 6pm daily.
