GlenDonald Cottage

Built just above a crystal-clear rockpool called Visgat (“fish hole”), this secluded getaway is a fantastic choice in the southern Cederberg. GlenDonald Cottage and the adjacent Swallows Croft (rented together) sleep a maximum of 13 guests and provide every comfort and luxury (except TV, WiFi and cellphone reception, which is a rare luxury indeed).

On a 4 500-hectare swathe of land (protected in partnership with CapeNature), at the headwaters of the Olifants River, it’s a world of spectacular rock formations, ravines, gorges and thrumming fynbos. There’s plenty to explore, but the inviting Visgat – the focal point of your stay – might keep you rooted to the spot.
