Nestled in this tranquil valley is The Doolhof, an original Cape Dutch manor house that’s been transformed into a luxurious boutique country hotel.

The elegant manor house is home to just six exquisite suites and one thatched cottage, offering visitors the ultimate away-from-it-all escape. A 15m swimming pool and terrace set the mood for supreme rest and relaxation, plus welcome drinks, afternoon tea (with a glass of bubbles) and breakfast are included in the rate.

If you’re looking for something romantic, the free-standing thatched stone Winehouse Cottage dates all the way back to 1707 – but it’s been carefully and lovingly restored to offer guests (especially honeymoon couples) every comfort and additional privacy. It can even be booked as a chapel for wedding ceremonies and private functions! The ground floor contains an open-plan lounge and two luxurious bathrooms (one with a jet bath), while the bedroom is upstairs with a large, private patio that overlooks the paddocks and forest.
