Camp Canoe

Tucked away amongst lush fynbos and swaying olive trees, Camp Canoe is a luxury tented weekend getaway near Cape Town, on the rustic side of the Simonsberg Mountains, at Boschendal Wine Estate. Far removed from the main foot traffic, guests are encouraged to switch off, unwind and reconnect with nature. Which, given the surroundings, isn’t difficult.

The aesthetic in the seven tents is playfully retro and utterly gorgeous, reminiscent of an old-school summer scout camp. Waking to birdsong from the comfort of a sumptuous king-size bed, before embarking on a day of little adventures (be it epicurean or outdoorsy) is a special kind of luxury. You might want to stay put, though – the setting and views are lovely, with the tents skirting the edge of a sparkling dam. Hammocks and a hot tub do tend to encourage idling the hours away. This is a weekend getaway for the bucket list!

Good to Know
Expect many special surprises, from marshmallows in the tent to picnic, braai and breakfast boxes (available to pre-order) and even the occasional wandering genet as you soak in the hot tub, surrounded by boulders.
