Aardts Cabins

Aardts means “earthly” – and the name will make perfect sense when you encounter this extraordinary “modern caveman” dwelling. Built from local stone, wood, steel and glass, it’s set into a mound of earth and accessed via a door in the ground (keeping the temperature consistent). Descend the stairs into this architectural abode, where it’s as cosy as can be – and decorated with a designer’s touch. The furniture and fittings are hand-crafted and curvaceous. But outside is where you’ll spend most of your time, in the hot tub or huddled around the fire, marvelling at the beautiful views of the Wolwekloof and the stunning, colour-streaked skies. Of course, it’s totally unplugged, off-grid and elemental… the ideal bolthole to reconnect with the one you love.
